Our Dam (cont.): Improvement in 2024
Rainfall during spring 2023 was substantially below the 2005-2022 average. In October 2023 it was only 17.3mm (34% of the 2005-2022
average), in November 3.0mm (9.3%), and in December 0.3mm (1.8%). In total, rain from October to December was 20.6mm,
which is 20.5% of the 2005-2022 average of 100.4mm. As a result, our dam stopped overflowing earlier than it ever did, and about one
month earlier than average.
Since the loss of water in the dam during summer is almost exclusively caused by evaporation, it was
already in October 2023 predictable that we will have difficulties to keep up our water supply from the dam towards the end of summer,
unless we would have an unusual early season break.
