About our Farm and Goat Farming
Our Water Supply
Goats need plenty of fresh water. This is particularly important during the dry, hot summer months. All our paddocks have a water trough which is automatically filled with water from the dam.
The 92 m3 rainwater tank was installed in November 2003, even before the "Shed-Home" was built. The water is collected from the roof of the shed. Its volume is enough to bring our household comfortably through the dry summer days.
To supply the cheese kitchen with enough potable water, we built a slow-flowing sand-biofilter, which is fed with water from the dam (click here to see details). Additionally, the water is UV-treated before it is used in the cheese kitchen.
