For financial reasons, we built the spillway originally as a simple, "open" overflow. Because of its steep flanks it could only be crossed with 4WD vehicles, but not with normal cars or trucks.

2014 we decided to build a small bridge across the spillway. The driveway across the dam wall now serves as truck access to our farm.
