Information from 635 birth between 2006 and 2018, where a total of 1249 kids were born, was analysed for sex ratio, gestation period, litter size, presentation of the kids at birth, kidding difficulties, and mortality. It was also analysed how these different parameter were influenced by each other and by external factors (Click here to read the full article).
Sex ratio is the proportion of male to female kids born. It is normally expressed in the percentage of male kids.
On average it was 48.5% males and 51.5% female kids. However, it varied quite a bit from year to year. The most "unbalanced years were 2012 and 2018, where 48.0% and 57.1%, respectively, of the kids were males.
The percentage of male kids increased with litter size from 42.9% in singles to 64.3% in quadruplets. Maiden does ("first-time kidders") with singles had the lowest percentage of male kids (38.8%).
Sex ratio was also influenced by the parents. In bucks, it varied from 26.5% to 76.2% male kids, in does from 0% to 82% male kids.
