Kidding Statistics
Litter size means the number of kids from the same mother that are born together at one time.
Average litter size for the period
from 2006 to 2018 was 1.97. 18.7% of all kiddings were single births, 66.9% were twin births, 13.2% were triplet births, and 1.1%
were quadruplet kiddings.
Maiden does ("first-time kidders") had more than twice the percentage of single births (30.08%) than older
does, but only few triplets (4.4%) and no quadruplets. As a result, average litter size of maiden does was substantially lower
(1.74) than the average litter size of older does (2.04).
Average litter size varied from year to year, as it was strongly influenced
by the condition and the feeding management of the goats.
